understanding the shitholes in life

BY DR. KIMBERLY KIMBROUGH

The word ‘shit’ as defined by Google (2020) is a contemptible or worthless person. It also means to tease or try to deceive. Other words used to describe the term are disgust, anger, or annoyance.

The word ‘hole’ as defined by Google (2020) is a hollow place in a solid body or surface. It’s a small or unpleasant place. It means to make a hole or holes in.

In other words, shitholes are those things that we allow to invade our minds, body, and spirits; the things we allow to disrupt our lives in unhealthy ways, taking up unnecessary space, that prevents the flow of success.

Oftentimes in life we may find ourselves in places I like to refer to as ‘Shitholes.” Others may refer to them as potholes. Now is not the time for anyone to get super spiritual and say, “Oh my God, did she just say the word shit???” Yes, I did. And, since this is my blog, and my site, I do not need anyone’s approval. Freedom of speech. Now that that’s out the way, let us get down to business.

Shitholes are those places we get stuck in that can be exclaimed, as disgust, anger, or annoyance. For example, how often do we beat ourselves up by viewing the person in the mirror as a worthless person? We say things like: You are never going to be anything great in life. This is as far as you can go. You will always be broke. You will never finish school. You will never be successful in your career. You will never lose weight. The list goes on and on. How many times have you tried to deceive yourself and others by pretending to be something you are not? You dress the part to look the part. You talk the speech to win over the crowd. When it is all said and done, you have made no real progress. The clothes come off. You are back to facing the real you in the mirror.

If we don’t want this hollow and unpleasant place that we ourselves have made and formed in our bodies; this place that’s full of shit, to keep us stuck at nowhere, then it’s time to rid our bodies of the shit! Let’s turn these shitholes in our lives into something positive.

To do this, follow these simple steps:

Step 1. Cut the crap! Get rid of all the excess crap that is taking up potential space for success. (i.e. negative people, negative conversation with self or others, fear, doubt, excuses, etc.)

Step 2. Start a fresh and rewarding plan (i.e. set some new goals, begin daily positive affirmations, journal your emotions and thoughts to keep track of what and who is holding you back. [most times it is us], do things that make you happy)

Step 3. Go for the gold! Write the book. Go on the date. Start the new business. Go back to school (you are never too old to learn), remodel the house. Sign the papers. Have the baby. Whatever it is, you are in control!

Step 4. Never get stuck in a shithole again. If you do, just know, there is always a way out. Just repeat steps one through three!

Thank you Mrs. Traylor for your honest feedback! I am a transparent person, with one goal, and that is to make a positive impact on the many lives I am blessed to cross paths with. Oftentimes we focus solely on the wrong thing, and miss the bigger picture of something great. I wanted to take something viewed as bad, and present a different perspective. Shitholes is about people who can See Happiness while Internalizing Thoughts of Hope, Opportunities, Love, Equality, and Success. The ‘seven steps to a successful you’ course has been in the making for some time now. I wanted to assure every attention was given to detail as much as possible. We are looking to launch the course within the next few weeks, so be on the lookout for that!
